GST लागू होने से पहले LPG पर अलग-अलग टैक्स (Excise Duty, VAT, etc.) लगाए जाते थे।
लेकिन 1 July 2017 को जब GST System शुरू हुआ, तब से टैक्स structure काफी simplified हुआ।

👉 देखा जाए तो Domestic LPG पर तो कम असर पड़ा, लेकिन Commercial और Auto LPG पर टैक्स काफी बढ़ा है।

घर के इस्तेमाल के लिए मिलने वाला Domestic LPG cylinder अब 5% GST slab में आता है।
हालांकि सरकार की Ujjwala Yojana जैसी योजनाओं के कारण गरीब परिवारों को सब्सिडी का लाभ मिलता है।
इससे middle class और rural users पर बहुत ज़्यादा financial burden नहीं पड़ा।

⚙️ Impact on Commercial & Auto LPG Users
Restaurants, hotels और small industries में जो Commercial LPG cylinders इस्तेमाल होते हैं, उन पर 18% GST लगाया जाता है।
इससे उनकी लागत (operational cost) बढ़ी है, जिसका indirect effect आम उपभोक्ताओं तक पहुंचता है — यानी खाना या सर्विस charge थोड़ा बढ़ गया।
वहीं Auto LPG, जो वाहनों में fuel के रूप में इस्तेमाल होता है, उस पर भी 18% GST है। इससे Auto Gas users के लिए यह थोड़ा महंगा विकल्प बन गया है, जबकि यह एक eco-friendly fuel है।
📊 Overall Impact of GST on LPG and Consumers
अगर देखा जाए तो GST ने tax system को आसान तो बनाया, लेकिन Commercial LPG और Auto LPG users के लिए यह ज्यादा किफायती नहीं रहा।
Government को अगर green fuel को promote करना है, तो Auto LPG पर GST दर घटाना चाहिए।
Domestic LPG पर 5% का GST अब भी manageable है क्योंकि subsidy और direct benefit transfer (DBT) की मदद से कीमतें stable रहती हैं।
